“Our son Aiden was diagnosed with Irlen syndrome when he was 9 years old after years of struggling with comprehension, reading, writing, spelling and drawing. Words would move in a swirling pattern and he had difficulty with tracking left to right. He struggled with ski racing due to difficulty judging distance. He also experienced chronic headaches and eye fatigue. Fast forward 4 years and our son is thriving. He is an A/B student, reading above grade level, plays golf, skis and is the goalkeeper for his soccer team.
We can’t thank Rita enough for her kindness, gentleness and patience while screening our son for Irlen Syndrome. Her wealth of knowledge led us to Susan our Diagnostician as well as initiating a 504 plan with school. The support we have received from Rita is immeasurable.”
“Our son, a middle schooler, has epilepsy. He has sensitivity with light and has Irlen Syndrome. The Irlen glasses have helped minimize glares of light, such as the sun reflecting off the snow or the lake. The reflections would send him into an “episode” of several petit-mal seizures (one right after another). Wyatt notices he “doesn’t feel as stressed at school and thinks better” with his glasses on. He proudly wears his glasses because he knows they help calm his brain and reduces the light sensitivity. He openly talks about his situation with his peers which gives them a better understanding of him wearing Irlen glasses. He has had them for over 2 years now and loves them!”
